Oh dear! Did you forget to clean your paintbrushes again (like me!)? I hate to admit it, but this happens to me fairly often! I get so excited about moving on to the next step of a project that I forget to wash out my brushes.
Paint Brush Bohemian Wreath
Repurpose your dried-up paintbrushes to create a beautiful Bohemian wreath and wall decor!
Do you have dried-up paint brushes lying around, too? Let’s use those dried-up and well-used paint brushes to create a colorful Bohemian-style wreath.
In keeping with my repurposing theme, I grabbed fabric scraps, painted canvas and painted clothes pins from previous projects to decorate my paint brush wreath.
I used DIY paint from Debi’s Design Diary. This highly pigmented paint retains full color even when watered down a bit.
Supply List
- Grapevine wreath
- Drop cloth
- Old paint brushes
- Fabric scraps, cut in strips
- Painted canvas
- Painted clothes pins
- DIY Paint
- Hot glue gun
Make Your Wreath
- Lay the wreath flat on a drop cloth
- Add a little water to your paint. Drizzle and brush DIY paint all over the wreath. Use two or more colors for variety. Set the wreath aside to dry.
- Make your leaves while the paint dries. Cut painted canvas or a painted drop cloth into ovals. Drop a dot of hot glue at one end. Use a clothespin to pinch together.
4. Once the painted wreath is dry, gently poke paint brushes into the vines of the wreath. Secure with hot glue.
5. Take your fabric strips and randomly tie them around the paint brushes.
6. Next, add your clothespin canvas “leaves” to the wreath. Just clip the clothespins right on the vines and secure them with hot glue.
Hang your paintbrushwreath on your front door or art studio door!
In addition to painting wreaths, Angie paints on any surface she can get her brushes on. Walls, windows, clothing, shoes, and furniture are her canvases. Check out more of Angie’s work at angienordstrum.com and Instagram. Find Angie inside The Turquoise Iris Journal when you subscribe!
