Kelly Wiler shares how everyone has their own beginning.
My studio is an eclectic bohemian space where you can find locally made art, candles, clothing, and art supplies for the creative soul. I specialize in furniture and intuitive style canvas art. Intuitive art is by far my favorite style to create, it is such a freeing experience and it teaches you to paint in the moment without fear or self-judgment. For me, personally, it’s a very therapeutic process during the very first layers in particular. I often cover that first layer with words or quotes of various goals, worries, gratitude, or even playful childlike strokes and marks. I’ve been creating intuitive art for several years now, but just within the last 4-5 years I’ve finally allowed people into that world to actually watch, take part, get involved with the process and now I even teach it. Don’t get me wrong, I still have moments when the mean voice that takes up space in my brain (rent-free) bullies her way to the surface with her taunting laugh that mocks my every move. I’ve learned to recognize that voice of hate and quickly hush her to allow that softer God whisper to take over saying, “Yes girl yes! Keep going!”
