The Art of Becoming

A documentary honoring real women, real creativity, and the spark that lives inside all of us.

About the Film

The Art of Becoming is a documentary by Dionne and Matt Woods that follows thirteen creative women as they share honest stories about identity, inspiration, healing, and the moment they first recognized their spark. Through intimate interviews and beautiful visual storytelling, this film explores what creativity means—not as a skill we earn, but as something we’ve carried with us all along.

In Part 1 of the documentary, you’ll hear each woman speak about:

  • The early moments that shaped their creative identity
  • The people and experiences that inspired their journey
  • How creativity helped them navigate life’s hardest seasons
  • What success means to them today
  • Why creativity isn’t a hobby—it’s part of who they are

The Art of Becoming – Creator Statement

Creativity has the power to build confidence, connection, and courage. Dionne and Matt created The Art of Becoming to capture the stories that often go unseen—to show that creative women are not behind, not invisible, and never too late to begin again. This is only the beginning. Part 2 is coming soon with deeper conversations and new chapters in these women’s evolution.

Thoughts on The Art of Becoming

What a wonderful inspiring series! I love the storytelling and the beautiful art so much courage, authenticity in the beautiful women! I am so blessed to know some of them personally and so excited to get to know the ones I don’t through their storytelling.

That was the most beautiful heartwarming film I’ve ever seen. Every one of these women’s stories have given me courage to step out of the shadows and become who I want to be. I love and thank all of you!

I just finished watching and I absolutely loved it. Listening to these women, my heart felt so at home. Thank you so much for putting this together to share with us. I don’t have a studio. I just have a craft corner, kind of carved out in my living room, with lots of my supplies close by. Right now I have some specific drawing projects waiting for me to get back to them there…and so I shall.

I love the documentary you were in! It’s inspired me to just go for it. I’ve always wanted to carve wood. Think I’m going to give it a try. It inspired me to. Why not! Love your heart! So excited I get to watch your journey in doing what you love!
